We gladly answer general questions and communications by

Registered nurses are available 24 hours, 7 days a
week and on holidays to answer medical advice
questions. This service is provided to increase
veteran access to healthcare advice and education
and to help the patient avoid unnecessary hospital
or clinic visits. During regular business hours of
8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, Telecare
is also able to assist in making changes to primary
care clinic appointments.

Shuttle buses transport veterans between Dallas VA
Medical Center (VAMC) and Sam Rayburn Memorial
Veterans Center (SRMVC).
Buses depart from Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans
Center in Bonham at 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Monday
- Friday. Veterans with appointments at Dallas VAMC
are given priority seating. Buses arrive back in
Bonham at approximately 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Parking Lot #1 (lot west of Building #1) is
designated as patient and visitor parking and is
marked as such. Designated employee parking is
marked.
Parking Lot #3 (lot north of Building #2) is general
parking for employees except for the area reserved
for physicians, carpool, handicap, and patient
parking.
Parking Lot #4 (lot between Buildings 2 and 3) is
for volunteers only.
Parking Lot #6B is designated for domiciliary
patient parking and, except for special
circumstances, is the only lot in which domiciliary
patients may park.
All other parking lots and areas are general parking
for patients, visitors, and employees.
Shuttle service is available to take passengers to
patient and visitor parking. It is located at the
main patient entrance.
Smoking is allowed:
Inside the smoking shelter south of Building 2
Outside areas except where smoking is prohibited as
clearly noted by signage
Patients and visitors are not allowed to smoke
inside VA buildings or in government vehicles at any
time. Smoking is prohibited at all main entrances to
VANTHCS buildings.
The staff of the VA North Texas Health Care System
encourages family and friends to visit. Visitors may
be asked to interrupt or delay visitation for brief
periods when medical procedures are in progress.

Visitation is arranged by the patient on an individual basis when patient is not
attending class. |
Other visitor guidelines:
- Visitors may not bring food or beverages to patients
without authorization from the patient’s physician or nurse.
- Children may be permitted to visit based on the needs
of the patient and/or family. Please check with the nurse in charge of
the unit for guidance.
- Members of the clergy may visit other than the
regular visiting hours at the discretion of the
physician or nurse in charge.
Lost and Found is located in building one, first
floor, room 167, Travel Office. You may contact them
at extension 36317, or 36351 after normal duty
hours.
VA North Texas has a Police
Service. Our officers provide 24-hour patrols of the
facility and parking lots. For general police
assistance, please dial 36222. Federal Officers are
available in Bonham. In case of an emergency,
dial 911. Report all suspicious or criminal
activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property
losses while on the facility grounds to the VA
Police as soon as possible.
Because the VA Medical Center is federal property,
all persons and bags are subject to search. In
addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are
permitted.
The Veterans Canteen Service Retail Store and
Cafeteria are located in Building 3. Vending
machines are also available in each building.

The chapel is located on the 1st floor of Building 2
(off the connecting hallway). On Sundays,
there is a Bible study from 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. A
Protestant worship service is held in the Chapel at
9:00 a.m. and in the Nursing Home Care Unit at 10:15
a.m.

available to all nursing home and hospice patients.
Upon admission, veterans will be assigned their own
telephone number for convenient calling to friends
and loved ones.
For the convenience of patients
and visitors, an automated teller machine (ATM) is located in Building 1
opposite the elevators.
