Who offers TriCare?

Who is eligible to receive care within VANTHCS?

• Dependents of active duty and retired military personnel age 16 and above with a valid military I.D.
• Retired military personnel 
• Patients eligible for TriCare For Life can receive medical services but need to be aware that significant cost shares and deductibles apply

How do I sign up as a TriCare patient with VANTHCS?

• Bring current military ID and proof of any other health insurance coverage to the facility where you wish to receive care (Dallas, Bonham or FWOPC)
• Contact the VA/TriCare Eligibility and Health Care Benefits Coordinator for assistance in choosing the coverage that is most appropriate

What services are provided?

• Medical/surgical inpatient and outpatient services
  (excluding obstetrics and pediatrics)
• Laboratory
• Radiology
• Mental health and behavioral services
  (excluding adolescent psychiatry)

What will the service cost?

• For cost information, call Humana at 800-444-5445
• Co-pays or deductibles will be required, patients not meeting this will be referred to a non-VA provider
• Costs vary depending on the TriCare coverage you choose

How are prescriptions filled under TriCare?

• You will be provided with a prescription by a VA Physician or Authorized Provider
• This written prescription can be filled at a local TRICARE network Retail Pharmacy of your choice or a TRICARE Mail Order Pharmacy (T-MOP)

How can I find a TRICARE retail pharmacy near my home?

• To fill a prescription using the TRICARE Retail Network or TMOP go to http://member.express-scripts.com/dodCustom/home.do and select “Pharmacy Locator” or
• Use the telephone to locate a TRICARE Retail Network pharmacy, by calling toll free 1 (866)-363-8779.

How do I arrange for care?

• For routine, non-emergency care, schedule appointments by calling your assigned primary care clinic.

• After hours services will be coordinated through Dallas VAMC Emergency Room. After 4:00 p.m., patients should call 214-742-8387, option 0 or 800-849-3597.
