The National Veterans Wheelchair Games are presented every year by Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America and is a sports and rehabilitation program for military service Veterans who use wheelchairs for sports competition due to spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, amputations and other neurological conditions. Dallas is hosting the 35th Wheelchair Games and hopes to show more than 620 disabled Veteran athletes some southern hospitality June 21-26 as competition begins in 19 adaptive sports events. The Wheelchair Games is the largest annual wheelchair sports event in the world, and demonstrates VA’s commitment to support and promote independence and active living for Veterans with disabilities through wheelchair sports and recreation.

The public is highly encouraged to attend the Wheelchair Games June 21-26. All events are free, including air guns, archery, basketball, bowling, field events, hand cycling, motorized wheelchair rally, nine-ball, power soccer, quad rugby, slalom, softball, swimming, table tennis, track, trapshooting and weight lifting.

The Games also coordinates a “Kids Day” event where local children with physical disabilities are paired with Veteran athletes to receive mentoring through a variety of adaptive sporting events. More information available at www.wheelchairgames.org
