No one likes to be in the hospital and it's especially tough during the holidays. Your normal list of things to do may have to wait until you're back on your feet again. Then, there's the Christmas shopping and spending time with family and friends – a lot to miss out on if you're stuck in the hospital.

But then someone walks through your door with a huge presence, and he's there to see you! And yes, huge presence is not far from the truth. Veterans were excited to meet 6' 10" Dallas Mavericks Center Bernard James when he came to Dallas VA Medical Center during the holiday season to visit his Veteran comrades.

This is the second year James requested to visit patients, and this year he brought bags full of goodies. James served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant and was deployed in Iraq, Qatar and Afghanistan. He made the holiday season brighter for many Veterans who appreciated him sharing his time and thanking them for their service to our country. Go Mavs!
