Management (Elective Rotation)

The Elective Management rotation is designed as a compliment to the longitudinal requirement Management learning experience. The rotation includes overview and practical application of leadership, time management, self and group change, and professionalism. Areas the resident will rotate include the facility Education Service, Quality, Safety and Value/Patient Safety, Pharmacy Service and VA Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP). Preceptors within these areas all include Pharmacists. The resident will spend approximately one week each with VANTHCS Pharmacy Chief, Patient Safety Pharmacist and two weeks each with the CMOP Chief and Associate Chief of Staff for Education.

Preceptors are responsible for providing a calendar of events for each separate area. Each preceptor will facilitate management discussion points that are unique to their pharmacy setting. The lead preceptor is responsible to guide the resident through a management project, proposed by the preceptors within the varied areas of experience and selected by the resident.
