"Accelerating Access to Care" Initiative at VA North Texas Veterans

June 5, 2014

The purpose of the "Accelerating Access to Care" initiative is to strengthen access to care at VA North Texas Health Care System, while also ensuring flexibility to use private sector care when needed in accordance with VA guidelines.  VA North Texas has systematically reviewed clinic capacity in an effort to maximize our ability to provide North Texas Veterans’ medical appointments when, and in the manner they want them. Where capacity cannot be increased, use of care in the community will be increased through the non-VA care program.

VA North Texas has been diligently working to contact Veterans to coordinate acceleration of their care.  This includes phones calls to Veterans with an upcoming appointment during normal working hours, evenings and weekends.  Every effort is being made to contact Veterans with an upcoming appointment and work with them to be seen sooner if they wish.

The most important mission at VA North Texas is to make sure all Veterans know VA is here to care for them and provide the high quality care and benefits they have earned and deserve.
