VA to Host 22nd Anniversary Regional Veterans Day Celebration at Warrior Stadium

Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center and the City of Bonham will host the 22nd Annual Regional Veterans Day Program, Thursday, November 8, 9:30 a.m., at the Bonham High School Warrior football stadium.

A military flyover from Carswell Air Force Base will kick off the formal program, followed by the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) color guard. Additional program performances will include the Bonham High School band, PVA wheelchair rifle volley and static displays of a Chinook helicopter from Bravo Co. 2-149th General Support Aviation Battalion.  Military vehicles from the Military Vehicle Preservation and Historical Club from Sherman will also be on hand.

Guest speaker will be Lt. Colonel Jason A. Eckberg, Commander of the 645 Aeronautical Systems Squadron (645 AESS), Greenville, Texas. The 645 AESS is the Aeronautical Systems Center’s 170-member strong, most diverse flying squadron, acting as the tactical arm of the Big Safari Program Office, with over 25 unique specialties represented.

Lt. Colonel Eckberg entered the Air Force through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1997 from Carnegie Mellon University.  In 2006, he graduated from the USAF Test Pilot School and has since worked a number of assignments in flight and electronic warfare test and evaluation.  Lt. Colonel Eckberg is a Senior Navigator with over 1,800 flying hours in more than 30 aircraft.
