VA North Texas Health Care System
Our Recreation Therapy program provides treatment and services to Veterans in order to restore wellness or rehabilitate illnesses and disabilities. By offering coordinated quality health care and a variety of recreation resources and activities, Veterans can improve their health, functioning, independence and quality of life.
Our recreation therapists are trained and certified to provide services to Veterans. They have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in Therapeutic Recreation (TR) or related field with a concentration in TR. Therapists may also be certified by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Recertification is required every five years and achieved by attaining 50 hours of continuing education.
