Feds Feed Families Is A Huge Success

Executive Office staff participates in Feds Feed Families.
Friday, August 24, 2012

Once a year, the Feds Feed Families event takes place in order to help local pantries and food banks replenish their stock. The Department of Veterans Affairs is one of several federal agencies proud to take part in the campaign.

Feds Feed Families is led by the Chief Human Capital Officers Council in partnership with the Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This government-wide effort began in 2009 and since then agencies have collected more than 8 million pounds of food. The Department of Veterans Affairs has a goal to collect 230,000 pounds of food to contribute to the effort.

VA North Texas Health Care System has collected more than 6,400 pounds of food to date.

The food collected will be donated to Tarrant Area Food Bank, Methodism Bread Basket and North Texas Food Bank. We are accepting donations for Feds Feed Families 2012 through August 31. If you want to participate, please drop your non-perishable foods off at our Dallas, Bonham or Fort Worth location.
